RobNetScan can't find IPS.....

Our robots have been moved to a new subnet to isolate them from the rest of the company network.  There's currently two on the new subnet and we've had to modify the controllerid.xml and netscanconf.xml files to get them to work.  Problem is while one now works fine we can't connect to the IPS on the other with Robview...... We can ping it and FTP but for some reason robview cannot see it.

I've attached a screen shot showing a ping and robview not connecting, also the controllerid.xml and netscanconf.xml files

Just to add the Robot named Falcon has an IP of 192.168.11.222 and it's IPS is 192.168.11.223.
  • We now have the same situation on 4 of our IRC5P's.  We can FTP and Ping the IPS but Robview cannot see it....

Is there anyone with any experience with this?  My contact with ABB UK is struggling with it and we're pulling our hair out here..... :#
  • Haven't worked with paint stuff. But for me it sounds like there is a problem with the bridge between the subnets. I would check what ports the IPS are using for communication and see if there are any network components that are blocking those ports.

Thanks Per, we've checked all this several times, along with our IT guys and everything seems fine.  We can ping it fine, and access it via FTP, it's just Robview can't seem to talk to it on 5 of our 5 robots........

    Still stuck with this one....
  • The broadcast messages sent out by the robots and monitored by RobNetScan are limited to the subnet. I.e they don't travel cross subnets.

However I'm not sure if IPS uses the same protocol.

That interesting as we don't have any issues communicating with the Main Computer across subnets, its the IPS we have problems with...
  • See attached document for how to configure Netscan. (Might not help if this is a bug in RobView though.)

  • Thanks JWeiman, we've  already tried that and it doesn't work. :/
  • In that case you need to get in contact with the paint people, not sure if anyone in this forum is familiar with RobView/IPS

  • I've tried, ABB UK are stuck and so are Robdesk......  Needs someone who actually works with Robview I think.... one of the engineers who designs it maybe...
