Multimove vs. Move Multiple

Options

I have two 6600s in my cell and I would like to create a simulation showing both of them drilling either side of a complex part at the same time. The manual is rather unhelpful in this matter.

They both have multimove, independent. I've created all the targets and paths, and the robots can both move along their respective paths. There is no work piece robot as they are working on a part that is floating in space (which will eventually have a set fixture holding it).

Even with all this in place, the error message "not a multimove system" pops up. Please tell me there is a fix that doesn't involve me having to re-teach all 800 holes again.

  • Hi
The message just tells you that the system isn't a coordinated multimove system. So in your case where you are running semicoordinated you don't have to take any notice of it.
The key behind the MultiMove function in RS is the possibility to calculate the path for a mechanism(workpiece robot) holding another mechanisms (tool robot) workobject just by defining the tool robot path.

Alright. So I skipped ahead to simulation setup instead. Now the issue is I can't synchronize my paths. Why?

Nothing is available in the program menu other than the Robotstudios Online button.

  • If you have more than one controller in the station, you must select a controller or task in the Elements browser to enable the synchronize commands.

You can also right-click a controller/task and select synchronization commands from the context menu.

Thank you! Simulation is beautiful now.

    Note to ABB Programmers -

Glitch to worry about for future versions: Refreshing/Synchronizing paths x amount of times causes a write to program error... an extra line gets thrown in at the wrong place and shuts down any and all robot movement except for autoconfig. By saving and opening the program in program maker it immediately showed me where the errant line was and deleting it fixed everything. (Would be nice to have that Edit Program button in the menu bar too. *coughhintcough*)
