Do physical positions stay the same when a programmis loaded in a new robot?

Hi,

A customer want to replace and old robot for a new one. The cabinet and the robot will be replaced.

Both robots are 1600, old one has RW5.15 and the new one has 6.14.

When i just load the modules with pos data into the new controller will the physical position be the same?

For example will the homeposition be the same phisycal postion.

Thanks in advace.

Thanks Lee. I was thinking in that direction but started to have some doubts.

You are welcome.  But actually, if you use even a bigger robot, the positions should mostly be the same.  One meter in X and one meter in Z are still the same for any robot, as long as it can reach it.  SO, for cartesian points they remain the same, but not jointtargets, for sure.  (with different robots)

Just make sure that the new one isn't a type variant, like type B or C.  I'm not sure that there are any newer variants for that model yet, but it happens with some models.
That being said, if you make sure that the calibration offsets are correct with the new robot and update the rev counters the positions should all remain the same.
