RS crash when starting VC

in RobotStudio
Running RobotStudio 5.13.01 on WinXP Pro SP3.
Problem occurs when:
Open RobotStudio, select open station, select existing station.
OR
Select new station, select existing system.
"Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger"
"An unhandled win32 exception occurred in RobVC.exe [1056]"
The number at the end changes every time.
Asks if I want to debug, select no.
Returns to RS, controller status window is stuck in state "starting" and mode "undefined".
Program does not respond to any other requests, only way out is to end task through Windows task manager.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
