RS network license server and RS version upgrade

Do we have to upgrade network license server/manager together with or before the upgrade of individual RS seats deployed (all seats are configured to pull licenses from the server)?

     We never touch our network license server unless renewing the license.
    Robotstudio is updated freely between developers. No problems.
