Importing CAD-Data from Autodesk Inventor with UCS/Axis/Points
in RobotStudio
Hi there!
This is my first post in this forum and I hope my questions are not too ordinary.
If so, please be patient
In our mechanical engineering department we use Autodesk Inventor 2016.
Till recently we used STEP files for transferring data between Inventor and RS (6.05)
Upgrading our RS licencing policy we received the other import-plugins.
Current workflow
Parts we receive from our customers are created in skeleton method; Through import-process the origin of the part is not where we need it and can not be moved
Right now we have to pack the CAD-file in another CAD-file so that we can move the model to the origin --> Not a good workflow
Issue/Question
We can create user coordinate systems in Autodesk Inventor easily. But how to import these files in RS without loosing the user coordiante systems contained in CAD-files?
I know that STEP files do not contain these information, but the native Inventor-File (.IPT) does, so does SAT/IGES.. But after importing them to RS the UCS are gone...
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried moving the local origin in RobotStudio?
I normally move the part to the right position and rotation relative to the station world co-ordinate system and then set all the values in the set local origin dialogue box to zero.
