Expected lifetimes for different platforms
Hi,
I'd like to know what are the expected lifetimes for different development platforms that we currently offer for ABB robots:
- FlexPendant SDK?
- PC SDK?
- Robot Web services?
- RobotStudio SDK?
This would be important information when we discuss SW development with our partners. They don't want to place resources on platforms if they are at the end of their life cycle. I know that FPSDK is based on legacy technology (.NET compact framework) but what is the case with other platforms? Are we going to have RobAPI and web services supported for example 5 years from now? And will the platform for RobotStudio remain the same for years to come? I know that it may be difficult to predict the future in technology these days but I would appreciate if some of you devs would share your opinion on this subject.
