rs485 for external signal output?

Is it somehow possible rs485 for outputing signals to external hardware? Do we need additional hardware for this?

There is option 970-1 for a RS232 serial port.

Depends on the main computer you have in the controller - from RobotWare 5.6 on (= DSQC10xx series main computers) the serial port is an additional piece of hardware - which you would have if you are using any of the AnyBus communication adapters.

What I was meaning is the carrier for the anybus adapter has the serial port built into it (as below picture) - so if you have any of the ABB anybus options you will have a serial port.
If not you can buy just the carrier and retro fit it to the main computer.
