IRC5 and PLC Siemens
Togomi

Hi,
I would like to communicate a PLC S7-1200 or 1500 with a IRB120.
The IRC5 has a Ethernet/IP board, so it's supposed that It's not possible.
People said to me that that board is suitable to communicate with AB PLCs, but not Siemens, and I need a Profinet board.
Is that totally true?
Do I need the profinet board to do it?
Is there any other option?
Thanks in advance

The irb120 I can use has Ethernet/IP board.
People say yo me that the robot need Profinet board to communicate with Siemens PLC.
Ethernet/IP is ok for AB PLC, that is what people say yo me.
What do you mean?

The PLC needs to have the EthernetIP communications option fitted.
Rockwell/AB have this as standard and the others as options, Siemens probably has Profinet as standard....0 -

For what it is worth, you do not have to use either protocol if the robot has devicenet. You may already have some common IO boards installed and if not, buy some. With those you could hard wire the needed IO.Lee Justice0
