Does 709-x Devicenet Option give access to use the Devicenet Fieldbus Adaptor?

I have an IRB6640 with an IRC5 and an upgraded computer (DSQC1018). The original backup has Option 709-x Devicenet and 709-2/709-5 Master/Slave Dual. I would like to use the Devicenet Fieldbus Adapter but I dont know if the system will work without Option 840-4. Note the majority of signals are coming from an Ethernet/IP source but I would like to have some local IO and since there is a DSQC 652 already installed, it makes sense to use it unless I have to purchase something else.
