Problems with IRB2400 m94A controller
I'm just learning to use RS 3.0 and i have had some problems concerning the virtual controller of an IRB2400 M94A.
First, IRB2400_M94A controller does not precisely exists. The program tries to find it but it isn't there. I have to search down v21 and make a copy of the controller IRB2400_Floor_M94A.
So far, it does no tmake much problem, it's only a mater os "spelling"
But the problem is that that controller doesn't work! It presents problems with windows libraries or something like that... there is an application that give a windows failure message.
I'm not very good at sindows system diagnostic, so if anyone may help, i would be very thankful. I will detail more precisely the problem in a few time, because i don't have all the information right now.
Thanks!

Hi
I'm pretty sure that some old controller versions isn't supported on newer operating systems like Win XP and Vista. Back in the old days when people where running Win NT thoose worked. I think there is some information regarding it in the Release Notes that could be found on the CD.
What I usally do in cases like this is that I create a VC of a newer version like 3.2 and then manually load the modules. The only hard thing (and it's not that hard) is that you need to create a new EIO.cfg file with all your IO's.Per Svensson

Thank you very much.
I'll try to follow your instructions, but I have some precision on a first glance:
-It would be quite a mess to install an older SO like win NT, so, for now, I would consider other options, but I'll keep that in mind.
-I guess you are refering to v32 VC of robots library, and not to RS version 3.2 when you talk of a newer version, isn't it? if so, I'll try with that solution and post the results, although I don't know quite anything about dealing with "how to manually load the modules". Are you talking about loading an v32 version of irb2400 m94 or creating a completely new VC?
By the way, I comment a little bit of the "scenario" I'm "suffering" :
-I have installed XP software in several pcs, and it seems to work only on AMD processors and not in Intel ones. Nevertheless, in my home computer, i have a celeron with XP SP1 and it currently works (but i would bet it didn't before!!) So I'm not sure if it's a hardware of a software problem (i have not actualised0 windows up to date here)
Thank you for your help!

Hi again PerSvensson,
I am able to run the VC, but I can't manage to use IOs. I'm trying to configure the vc via virtual robot browser/change controller/properties, and then in the startup tab I've tried to import configurator files, etc... but it doesn't work and I'm not sure I'm acting correctly. Could you tell me more about eio.cfg files and so?
Thanks in advance!

Hi
EIO.cfg files look different depending on what controller version you are running. So you can't load a eio.cfg file from a v21 backup and load that into a v32 controller.
So you need to create all the io's in the new controller manually.
And one way to do it is to define 1 io of each type (DI,DO and if you have any other like AI,GO or GI) in the new controller(using the virtual teachpendant) and then save that eio file to disc. Then just open that file in a text editor togheter with the eio file from the backup and just copy and paste and all that stuff until your new eio file has all the io's the backup has.
The just load the new eio file into the controller.
Hope this helpsPer Svensson

Thank you very much, Per!
If I understand it well, i have to mixed eio.cfg file in the backup and io definitions i would make in the teach pendant.
the backup you're referring to is this one?:
C:Archivos de programaArchivos comunesABB AutomationControlsV21CONFIGEIO.cfg
And i think I have to put them here:
C:Archivos de programaArchivos comunesABB AutomationControlsV21RobotsCopy (2) of IRB2400_Floor_M94SYSPAR
Am I correct? I'm putting on it right now.
Thank you very much, again.

Hi
You should'n mess with ...CONFIGeio.cfg
Do you have a real M94 robot that you want to try the things you create in RS on??
I pretty sure that you will have problems with v2.1 controller because it's not supported on newer windows operating systems.
So you need to create at least a v3.2 controller where you have defined all the io's(names) that exist in your M94 and then load all the rapid code.Per Svensson

Hi,
Yes, I have the robot.
I've had problem with windows at the beginning, but now, it doesn't make problems (or at least doesn't seem to)
I've managed to configurate the ios via teach pendant, and making warm starts i think it will work for now. I'm not pretty sure if I've configured the ios correctly, so I'll see when we download programs in the robot.
Thank you very much!!
