This is the procedure:

Create a Digital Output "signal 1" on controller 1

In station logic expose the signal on the controller 1 block

Edit "signal 1" to be a Digital Input 

Warmstart/restart

Return to station logic and behold.  

MY FIX: save/pack&go your station or project and re-open.
