I am new to deviceNet and need some help.

I am looking at connecting a Allen Bradley PLC to my ABB S4C+ controller over deviceNet but I am unsure how.

I have a AB MicroLogix 1500 PLC with a 1769-SDN Scanner card and I/O Plus installed on my S4C+ controller.

I am wondering how to connect the PLC to the controller and configure it.

I have read a few documents on I/O plus but I still don't understand.

Do you need to have an eds file for the robot and one for the PLC for it to work? If so, where do I find the eds file for the S4C+ controller.


If anyone can help I would be much appreciated.

    Hey Ken,

    i never connect a roboter this a plc over device net, but often simple fieldbuscoupler like a WAGO coupler. To configure the system it schould be the same.
    Create in the eio.cfg lines like this
    EIO_UNIT_TYPE:

          -Name "w306_1" -VendorId 40 -VendorName "Wago" -DeviceType 12
          -ProductId 306 -ProductName "WAGO 750-306" -MajorRev 4

    EIO_UNIT:

          -Name "BOARD12" -Type "w306_1" -Bus "BASE" -Address "12" -Digin 16
          -Digout 6 -PollRate 10

    VondorId, DeviceType and ProductId must be from the PLC. You can get the information maybe from an Allen Bradley eds-file. 
    The eds-file for the S4C+ is on the cd and below the text.
