Hello ,

I got  my new  PC  with  Visual Studio 2008 .

I installed  RAB,  but  when  I   go to  new  project... there is  no  Flexpendant  project   to  Start!!!

How  to set up the system?

I'm afraid that there is no support (yet) for VS 2008.

In this case it is very important  to write  this  limitation on the release notes.

Right now  what  is  written is  confusing:

"The FlexPendant SDK requires VS 2005 Standard edition or better,..."

  • Hello Oscar,

Most likely, we will not be able to provide support for VS 2008 until the 5.12 release in 2009. And you are right, to avoid any misunderstanding among RAB users, we will clarify this in the 5.11 Release Notes.

I still do think, however, it says in the Release Notes for 5.10 that VS 2005 is required, and that "or better" refers to the required edition :

    Software requirements <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    • Microsoft Windows 2000 + SP4
    • Microsoft Windows XP + SP2
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005

Note! The FlexPendant SDK requires VS 2005 Standard edition or better, whereas PC SDK application developers can manage with VS 2005 Express edition for C# or VB. No separate installation of .NET Framework 2.0 is needed.

Anyhow, I do understand your disappointment about not being able to work with RAB on the new computer, and hope that you will find a solution to that problem.

  • Hello,

RAB 5.11 will support VS 2008.

RAB 5.11 is planned for release together with RW 5.11 and RobotStudio 5.11 in a month (w38).

  • Hi,

Yes, you are right. For PC SDK applications it should be no problem to use RAB 5.10 & Visual Studio 2008.

For FP SDK applications, however, there is no support for VS 2008 until RAB 5.11 is released.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I  can use  VS2008, if  I  import  an  existing  project,  also  for  Flex Pendant.

The  limitaton is  that  it is  not  possible  to  create  a  new project.

  • Software requirements mention Windows 2000 or XP SP2.

Will RAB 5.11 work with Vista??

    Thanks,

    Brian

  • Yes, it will. For RAB 5.11 the supported platforms are  Windows <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP2. It is to be released together with RobotWare 5.11 and RobotStudio 5.11 in a few days. Next week it should be available for download from this forum.
