add signal in RS

Hi all,

I have a station when the robot need cut a piece whit waterjet...I need add the signals for open and close the water...how can I make? I don't used never the signals! In RS the signals can be used without connect the PC on controller of robot? namely, the signals are fictional or it need than the signal are the real channels of I/O board of robot?

somebody could write the code for add the signals?

There is somebody which can help me?
