AWC Seam Tracking

I am attempting to use seam tracking on vertical up welds and after a day of trials i have had very little success. I think the vertical up weld is showing up a problem that exists in all of our welds, but is only noticeable in the vertical up.

The system does track into the weld seam, but always seams to favour one side of it. I have tried adjusting bias, but it seems unpredictable which side it will favour so that doesn't work.

I have tried all they way from 1 gain up until the system becomes unstable and am getting similiar results, also have tried a variety of weaves without any change.

The system does work in the horizantal seam weld, it is visibly favouring one side of the seam, but the horizontal weld is more tolerant to incorrect torch position.

Any suggestions?
