EasyArc

Options

Hi

Has anyone got any information on EasyArc?

Can't find anything other than a couple of references in the BullsEye manual.

Has it been replaced by GAP / Production manager?

Many thanks

    Hi,

EasyArc was a complete system user interface and part routine management system for S4/S4C/S4C+ delivered in arc welding systems primarily shipped within the United States.  It was primarily designed and managed by Steve Carey at what was then ABB in Fort Collins, CO.

With the introduction of IRC5, the EasyArc concept was subdivided into two layers:

    1.  An execution engine and user interface framework designed, developed, and supported by SEROP, called Production Manager.

    2.  A system-specific adaptation that provides useful service routines and Operator-Ready logic.  This system-specific layer also populates the Production Manager's user interface.  Robot Automation is supplying this layer for FlexArc products.  This layer is sometimes refered to as the "Cell Layer".  Sometimes this layer on an ABB FlexArc system is still called EasyArc.

This distinction between layers allows SEROP to support a common framework while allowing RA and system integrators to create their own "Cell Layers".  The common framework of Production Manager allows SEROP to deliver additional Arc options, like Production Monitor, that tie into the framework.  It also gives integrators a boost in productivity by allowing them to focus on the unique aspects of a project, rather than the mundane development costs of supporting the framework.
