Robot Application Builder 5.11 Released

I am pleased to announce that Robot Application Builder 5.11 has been released and can now be downloaded.

The usage of  Robot Application Builder has been simplified with this release, as the virtual environment needed for testing and debugging RAB applications now comes for free. All you have to do to start develop your own operator interfaces for IRC5 is downloading Robot Application Builder 5.11 and RobotStudio 5.11. The latter provides you with RobotStudio Online, Virtual IRC5 and RobotWare 5.11.

When you have downloaded the Robot Application Builder installation package you are strongly recommended to read the included RAB 5.11 Release Notes and also the installation chapter of the included User's Guide. (The installation has been simplified to make it easier to work with several versions of the PC SDK on the same computer.)

Robot Application Builder 5.11 is 100 % compatible with RAB 5.10.

Robot Application Builder 5.11 supports Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008.
Windows Vista is also supported.

I hope you have noticed that the appearance of the User Forum has changed a bit. Actually, we now launch an enhanced Software Support Portal, where you can get help while working with our software products! It will now be easier to share code, publish tutorials and so on.

  • Hi!

I have RAB 5.11 and Visual Studio 2008 installed. I am using FP SDK to make an application that will run on a system with RobotWare 5.10. Is this possible or do I have to upgrade the RobotWare?

    Best regards

  • Hello,

If you are sure that the customer uses RW 5.10 you should instead use the FP SDK of RAB 5.10 (as the FP SDK dlls your application will use in run-time (in RW ) will be 5.10).

You can download it for free from at:
RobotStudio Community>Developer Tools >Robot Application Builder Overview.

You should still be able to use the virtual environment of RS 5.11 during the development phase. When you test the application on the real FlexPendant, it has to run under RW 5.10.

  • Cheers for this, but will there ever be a Mac/Linux port?
    Tom.

  • Hi tomriddle,

    The RAB package is discontinued.
Instead both the FlexPendant SDK and the PC SDK have been merged into RobotStudio.
So there are several releases of the SDK's after this one. See the sticky for those.
This also means that there is no longer any license requirement for development using the FlexPendant SDK and the PC SDK. Instead it is handled by options on the RobotWare side.

Then there are no plans to have Mac/Linux support.
