Title: Robotware and hardware in different year models of S4C

    Product Type: Documentation

Hardware and software used in different year models of the S4C robot.

Below a brief description of how the hardware and software fits together in different year models of the S4C robot. The important thing is what Main Computer, Robot Computer and Memory expansion bord that is used. The IRB340 (Picker), requires power supply DSQC365 with extended energy reservoir (M98 rev.2 w840).

To be able to use DSQC365, a new back plane with separated 24 V supply is needed.. The new back plane introduced during M98 is DSQC369 (base+NIOC) and DSQC370 (Opt.IB-S/Profibus DP M/S), and they will replace DSQC330/340.

A new standard power supply, DSQC374 will replace DSQC334 used in M97A (and the first M98). Only difference is increased 24 V I/O supply to 7.5A (6A earlier).

    3HAC 2425-1 DSQC370 Back plane extended (Profibus DP m/s+NIOC)

    99-02-15

NOTE!  DSQC363 (IOC/AXC) is NOT suported in RW3.2. If cold booting with RW3.2, there will be an overflow in the flash memory on the computer board, and a special tool at the supplier is needed to recover the flash.

When upgrading S4C M97A systems from RW3.0 to RW3.1, the Main Computer board must be changed to DSQC 361 (part number 3HAC 0373-1).

As standard memory board the 8Mb DSQC 323 must be used (gives totally 16Mb RAM), which as an option can be replaced by the 16Mb board DSQC 324 (totally 24Mb RAM).

When upgrading to RW3.2, also the Robot Computer board must be changed to DSQC 373 (part number 3HAC 3180-1).

    Software needed for RW3.1:

    3HAB  2396-1 System Key RW3.1

    3HAB 2396-2 System Pack RW3.1

    Software needed for RW3.2:

    3HAC 2700-1 System Key RW3.2

    3HAC 2700-2 System Pack RW3.2

During the first cold start with the new Main Computer, an error can occure in the cold start tests. This depends on an incompatible Flash memory from RW3.0 in the Robot Computer.

To assure the first start up, following procedure is recomended to reflash the Robot Computer:

A?        Make a cold start with the "old" DSQC 325 Main Computer still in the system.

A?        Start the booting procedure with the new 3.1 (3.2) key disk, and the first disk in the 3.1 (3.2) System Pack (where current version of the Flash file is located).

A?        The reflash is identified as ... "do not power off" on the display on the TPU. This part of the procedure takes about 15-20 sec.

A?        As soon as "do not power off" is gone, turn off the power and remove the boot disk.

It is of great importance to not switch off the power during the critical 15-20 sec of reflash. If the procedure is interrupted, you have to swap the board.

A?        Change to the new Main Computer and cold boot the system according to normal procedure.

    Hello,

EPROM "RRA/RMG" is a bit too old one.

If you'd like to install the latest version of RW 2.1, revision 08.

then You need to order RobotWare package and EPROM together.

    The Article Number is as following;

    3HAC 6382-1 for Slot D62

    3HAC 6383-1 for Slot D63

If you have futher questions, You'd better contact local ABB in your country.

    BR,
  • Hello vulpes_h,

We have a s4c controller (wth DSQC361 main comp,DSQC373 robot comp,DSQC324 M.exp). One of our employees have made a cold start. Then he tried to install the system, but he has used a wrong sotfware RW3.0 instead of RW3.2. Right now, we cant install the program RW3.2. when the robot is cold started, it makes some of cold start tests till an error occurs (which is "uneexpected innterrupt").

The last test which is made by the controller is  # T1509: IOC IOC->MC Release MC. After this test it gives the error above

I think that it cant make the test which is # T2002: MC Memory test (RWM) Destructive.

In order to fix this problem, i think i have to load the boot-program (RW3.2) to main computer, but first of all i dont know how to erase the old one (RW3.0).

How can i erase it? Can i do that from console with hypperterminal.

    Thank you

    Best Regards

    1  power off

2 remove the batteries make shore the floppydiskreader is empty.

3 pull out all computer cards, but leave them in the rack.

4 Wait for 10 minutes, (drink a coffee)

5 Push in the computer cards

    6 connect the batteries

    7 power on

    8 think positively

9 pray that everything is okey

10 Wait for 15 minutes, (drink a coffee)

11 if self-test is OK  enter key disk

    else

    1  power off

    2 remove the batteries

3 pull out all computer cards, but leave them in the rack.

4 Wait for 10 minutes, (drink a coffee)

5 Push in the computer cards

    6 connect the batteries

    7 enter key disk

    8 think positively

9 pray that everything is Ikey

10 Wait for 15 minutes, (drink a coffee)

    11 if OK enter boot-diskA's

    if still error occurs then:

start replace cardA's whit a adder system to figure oute witch one is broken..

(but then you need to reboot that one to !)
