Hello at all!
I got the new software RoboStudio 5.12. Before that i worked with the 5.11 version.
Now i got a problem when starting my old files with the new version.
There is a problem with the Virtuel Controller.
I got the following message.

  • Hi
Thank you for the quick reply!!
No, its not installed, but RoboWare 5.12.1021 is installed!

  • You need to install Robotware 5.10 build 0147  to make your old station work.

  • Is there someplace to download missing rw from? I have a couple of systems that I don't have the corresponding rw versions for..
  • Alright!
    The problem is solved!
    Thank you!

  • Please contact your local ABB representative that should be able to provide the missing RW version.

  • ... there is a workaround that may work for you if all your path and targets data is present in the RobotStudio station, or if you have a controller system backup at hand.

Disclaimer: This workaround may cause loss of data and should not be done by an unexperienced RS user. Ensure that the station file and all related controller systems are properly backed up. Controller configuration data (such as MOC.CFG, etc) are not compatible between all RW versions which may be an issue if changing from one RW version to a RW version with incompatible configuration definition.

In the INTERNAL folder of the system connected to the station there is a text file called 'program.id'. That file contains the path to the RW version. You can modify that to point to a RW version that is installed on your system. Start the station, you may have to I-start the system. An I-start will delete all configuration changes and all RAPID programs. Unless all your data is part of the station and can be synchronized to the controller again, you need to restore a backup if you have one available.

It is recommended to create a Pack&Go-file when having completed working with a RobotStudio station, and preparing the data for archiving. The Pack&Go contains all referenced libraries and backups of the controller systems. It also allows the user to select RW version when unpacking, thus making it somewhat independent on the RW version used by the referenced controller system.
