Difficulty creating curves from imported .SAT file

Recently our RS license was renewed without the step file converter which only gives us the option of importig .sat file geometry.  Every instance of importing our files the error below is displayed:

Geometry (ACIS) warning 60013: 'Tolerances of restored file do not match current tolerances'

Could I get a simple explantion of this error.

What I could do to prevent it.

Would this error have any bearing on our inability to create a curve correctly on a curved surface.

Comments

  • The warning is related to a difference between value of the tolerance SPAresabs specified in the imported .sat file and the tolerance used in RobotStudio. The value can be interpreted as the distance below which ACIS considers two points to be coincident. In RobotStudio, the value SPAresabs is set to 1e-5 m. For any SAT file you can check the value by opening the SAT file in a text editor. The tolerance SPAresabs is the second value on the third line, see below (1.0000000000000001e-005).

    MyPart.sat:
2000 0 1 0
    15 RobotStudioIRC5 14 ACIS 20.0.1 NT 24 Fri Dec 18 13:46:42 2009
    1 1.0000000000000001e-005 1e-010
    ...
The value of SPAresabs is related to the largest meaningful quantity representable in ACIS, which is basically the inverse of the SPAresabs multiplied by some constant. The current value of SPAresabs used in RS implies that the "largest meaningful quantity representable in ACIS" is 100 m.

It is unlikely that this warning is related to any problems you have with your geometry.
