Changes do not take effect

Hi,

When making changes in "Paths" (under "Paths and targets in the "Home"-tab), like adding an instruction or deleting an existing, these changes are not applied in my station. Sometimes they "go through" after saving the station with "Pack 'n Go" and reopening it, but sometimes not. Sometimes they are applied but I can not see them. This is also the case for changing/modifying targets, etc.

I rotated a target around the z-axis but this change is not applied when I use this target in an "Move Offs"- instruction. But the change is applied if I use "View robot at target", then the rotation of the target is applied.

The changes are not applied in the RAPID-code under the "Offline"-tab as well.

This means it is impossible to see what has been created.

Thankful for any help.

Regards,

Axl

  • Hi,

You need to press "synchronize to VC" after making changes in Paths.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but this is not the cause of the problem.

Often changes will take effect after the synchronization to VC but the changes do not appear in the layout/paths and targets window. If I add a Move-instruction I can see the effect of it after a sync but I will not be able to see the new move-instruction in the layout/paths and targets window.

The reorientation of a target around the z-axis doesnA't take effect at all if I use a "move offs"-instruction, only if I use an ordinary move-instruction it will take effect. But none of these instructions will appear in the layout/paths and targets window.

  • If the browsers of RS are not updated with your added targets you can force an update by selecting "Collapse Browser Content", see picture below.

The browser may fail to updated as a consequence of failing internal undo handling. Please report if you can spot which command or sequence of actions that cause the browser to stop updating. Restarting RS will solve the problem.

As for Offs (from the release notes):

The RAPID functions Offs and RelTool are not fully supported
RobotStudio doesn?_Yt fully support instructions using Offs or RelTool functions. They will
be synchronized and will appear in the element browser, but commands such as ?_oView
Tool at Target?__ and ?_oLocate Target?__ will not work. Targets used in the instructions will
not be visible in the graphics.

  • Hi Henrik,

Thanks for your answer but the "Collapse"-function doesn't work. I'll give some more examples:

If I try to delete a path, empty or not, it doesn't disappear in the browser. If I rightclick the path again the "delete" option is greyed and cannot be chooseb again, but the path is still in the browser.

If I drag and drop a target into a path the output window says "One move instruction created" but it doesn't appear in the path in the browser.

If I rightclick to set something active the text doesn't change to bold. If I rightclick again the option "Set active" is greyed and cannot be choosen again.

It is not until I make a "Pack ' Go" and then unpack it , that I can see the changes in the browser.

  • Hi,

From your description it seems that the Undo handling has failed. Normally, the Collapse Browser content should update the browser. However, it will not get the browser back into sync again. To do this you need to restart RS.

Are you using a PowerPac or add-in with RS?

Exactly what operations are you performing before the browser gets out of sync?

  • Hi,

I have tried restarting RS as well as restarting the computer but nothing of this will fix this problem. I'm not using a PowerPac or an add-in.

The browser is out of sync all the time when working with this particular station.

Changes made are not seen in the browser but most of them seems to be applied.

  • Please get in touch with your local ABB contact that can log a support case about this issue. Attache the RSPAG file and the support log file created with the full scan option.

  • Hi,

I think I was a bit unclear of the behaviour. When I restart RS the changes made are updated in the browser but when I continue working I have the same problem, that the browser do not update the changes even though they are applied.
