IRC-5 HDD

Hi everybody......
I'm new in ABB robot handling. I got a suggestion to remove the hdd (in the CPU unit) after final programming and back it up using drive imaging software. So that we could easily recover the system in any case of system corrupt problems.
Has anyone ever experienced this way? Are there any resulting impact or damage when i do this? What should i consider and pay much attention before attempting this idea?
regards,
H-day
