Cannot get path from curve?

Hi,
I am trying to generate a very simple path from curve around a roughly 600mm by 600mm part with radiused corners. I imported the file as an STL into the cadconverter and imported to robstudio fine.
I cannot select a curve on the part or surfaces...is this something to do with my stl export from catia v5?
many thanks.
Ben

Hi Ben,STL is a graphics format that contain triangle data. To use the path generation function you need to have the curve geometry, i.e. CAD data of a curve. This is not part of STL. Preferrably, you should use any of the geometry formats such as SAT which is the native format, or STEP, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, IGES, VDAFS, ProEngineer, or Inventor. The latter formats require a CAD converter subscription.Henrik Berlin
