Media pool location on 64 bit PC

I have transferred RS 5.13.01 from a 32 bit to a 64 bit PC.
Systems which were created on the 32 bit PC expect the media pool to be located at
Is there a way to redirect these systems to the new media pool location or must I create a duplicate of the media pool at C:Program FilesABB Industrial ITRobotics ITMediapool?
Thanks,
Kevin
Systems which were created on the 32 bit PC expect the media pool to be located at
C:Program FilesABB Industrial ITRobotics ITMediapoolbut on the 64 bit PC the location is
C:Program Files (x86)ABB Industrial ITRobotics ITMediapool.I am therefore unable to load my old systems.
Is there a way to redirect these systems to the new media pool location or must I create a duplicate of the media pool at C:Program FilesABB Industrial ITRobotics ITMediapool?
Thanks,

Hi Kevin,There is a file named 'program.id' in the INTERNAL folder a all systems. It contains the search path to the mediapool. It must be updated with the new mediapool location. However, it is recommended to use the function 'Pack&Go' when moving systems and stations between two computers. Do you still have your old PC around? From the release notes:Move/Copy of Virtual Controller systems
Warm-started systems cannot be moved to another location and/or PC. This will result
in a non-working VC.
A typical symptom of the problem is that the Virtual Controller reports Failed to retrieve
procedure.
Workaround and recommended method of working:
1. Use ?_~Pack & Go?_T to pack the station and system backups in a zip file.
2. Use ?_~Unpack & Work?_T to unpack the zip file created by ?_~Pack & Go?_T.Henrik Berlin

Thanks Henrik,
My systems and stations have always been located on a network drive so I was hoping to avoid having to pack&go all my stations.
I modified the media pool path in 'program.id' for one system, and it now appears to load OK and the VC starts, but the screen area of the Virtual Flexpendant is displayed white as shown below.
The VFP displays OK on my old PC when running the same system.
Is there something else that I have to change?
It would take me a long time to pack&go all my stations so would rather avoid that method if possible.
Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,You could try to cold-start the system and see if that helps. Note that this will delete the program and configuration of the controller. Ensure that you have a backup available if you have data in the controller, which is not present in RobotStudio.A second thing to if the above does not help is to install the mediapool in the same location as on your old PC. This is what you first suggested and may on second thoughts be the most convenient way.If none of the above works, you should try the recommended way.Henrik Berlin

Hi Henrik,I found this thread after running into the same problems as Kevin.I have not started following your advices to Kevin yet, because at our site we are running into even worse problems:Some people are working on newer machines, running Win7 Pro 64 bit. Some others are still running on WinXP 32 bit. Both groups need access to the same simulations. We cannot work with having to convert back and forth between (x86) folders and original folders .... Even pack&Go is no real relieve in this case ...By the way, trying to install RS or RW into the normal Program Files (without x86) seems to be blocked by Windows itself. So no way to come through there, either. Is there no other means of handling this problem ? Being able to select media Pool location during system load ? Anything else ?It would be good to know how this problem could be handled, as more and more people will run into it ...Best regards,Matthias0

I suppose the Program Files folders are restricted. Perhaps you can try to do a custom installation of RW into another folder (which you created yourself). But then also your non-64-bit computers must be installed in this manner.Note that RS and RW is not designed or tested to be installed and used in a shared environment so I cannot guarantee it will work. Collaborative functionality is in the roadmap for future RS releases.Henrik Berlin
