Dear sirs,
i want to upgrade the robotware of a welding robot from RobotWare Version: 5.13.1001.01 (non official Version) to the new 5.13.01.
Now to my questions:
What is the best and easiest way to do this?
-Upgrade system via robotstudio?
-Do i have to install a new powerpac arc as well?
-Do i need a new key?
-What is with the system parameters, the Tasks and so on?
Thank you very much for your support!
Have a nice day,
Peter

You can use the feature 'Go Offline' that will create a virtual controller system similar to your physical system. It will use the latest RW version so if 5.13.01 is your latest installed RW version on your PC, you are done. Test run the system in RobotSTudio Offline, and download it to the physical controller using System Builder if everything seems OK.Alternatively, you can create the system in System Builder using the function 'Create From Backup' or 'New System' (use your true system key).Henrik Berlin

Hi Henrik,
thank you very much for your answer!
I will try the "Go Offline" Feature.

Hi Henrik,I was just wondering if there is an easy way also to upgarde a system version in a station already created in Robot Studio. I have some stations created with systems 5.11RW and want to have them running under 5.13RW. To do this in a real controller is simple (Modify a system then Download system to controller) but this option is not availabele in an Offline station. I could create a new station with new RW version but then I'm loosing all my modeling.Any hint?Thank youfvadnais2010-10-27 18:15:08- Francois0

You have two options.Alt 1: Do as you would for the real controller, but omit the download, i.e.a. Start RS, open station, and create controller backupb. Close RSc. Start RS (don't open the station yet))d. Modify system using system builder (select wanted RW version)e Open stationf. I-start controller (to make the modification active)g. Restore backup from step 1Alt 2: (Easier)1. Pack & Go your station2. Unpack & Work your station and select the wanted RW versionHenrik Berlin

Hi Belkin,As suggested in in the Alt 1, I can't see in wich step exactly the new system is loaded in the virtual controller. In step d- when you say "modify system with system builder.." do you mean Create a system from backup and then modify it?.On the other side, doing so will create a new system based on the existing one with the modification I wish to add (upgrade RW and system name for instance). At this point, the system is saved on a PC file and the backup is exactly the same as before.I can't see how the new system is loaded in the controller before restoring the backup. I miss something here...Alt 2 is working as the system RW can be choosen with the Unpack step. But there is no option to change the system name. Thanks again for your help.- Francois0

In Alt 1, I mean "Modify...", see snapshot belowThere is no need to explicity load the system into the VC, since the VC is "fed" with the system when it starts. But to make the change go through, you must I-start the system. This will delete all programs and configuration why you need to restore the backup afterwards. There is no function for changing the system name in RobotStudio, but you can use the following workaround to "cheat" RobotStudio.1. Close RS2. Rename the system folder3. Start RS and open the station.-> RS will ask for the system since it is looking for a folder with the old name which it cannot find.4. Point out the renamed system-> Done!
