creating tools

Dear Sirs,
I'm using RS 5.13.01 and I want to create a new tool from a existing tool. So I had loaded a prepared tool (tool for spotwelding GWT_S1_0) from library. After that I detached it from library. I selected the robot and push the button for creating a new tool.
Now, I can't select the existing tool in the opened window - there is only the option "dummy" available! Please have a look at the screenshot.
What's wrong in my way?

This wizard is for creating a tool without kinematics from CAD-data. The spot welding gun you are using have one axis and cannot be created in this way, but should be re-created using the "Create Mechanism" function ("Kinematik erstellen").To prepare for that, you must export the geometry of each individual link of the gun. Then you can import them as separate parts and re-create the gun. What is your goal with modifying / re-creating the gun?Henrik Berlin

I'm a beginner in RS and I don't know how it's possible to control the tool. I can define positions for the tool (closed + opened), but I don't know how to control the tool on a welding spot.

Hi goofie,
Have you used station signals for closing and opening your gun?

Hi charon,
no, I didn't use station signals til now. I think, I have to define the welding gun in the controler, but I don't know exactly in which way to do so.
