Mediapool recovery

I have just switched to Windows 7 (64 bit version), and need my "old" media pool (s)

Can I just copy them from the old pc to the appropriate location on my new laptop, or do I need to install them, and if so from where do I obtain the files?

Best regards

  • You should be able to copy the mediapool to the same location on your new laptop.

As for stations, it is recommended to save your stations in "Pack & Go" format before moving them to your new laptop.

  • Seems to work Henrik.

One "feature" I have just noticed is that the Guid associated with the Station changes when using Pack and Go.

The guid that I am using to identify the controller is
    ControllerInfo.SystemId

Is this possible to fix or is it by design that the ControllerInfo.SystemId is changed?

It is quite annoying having to update a lot of config files just because of pack and go. I do however not know if it is due to changing pc or only to pack and go.

  • The system guid is exchanged after an Unpack&Work. The reason is to avoid duplicate system guids on a computer. (Let's say you have a station with a system, do a Pack&Go followed by an Unpack&Work. If the system guid was not exchanged after the Unpack&Work, it would no longer be unique.)

One possible workaround for you is to change the system guid of the unpacked system back to the original (the system guid is located in the file <System>/INTERNAL/system.guid).

Is the config file managed by a stand-along PC-SDK application or a RobotStudio addin? Perhaps you can use the system name to identify the controller in your application?
