It is not possible, however the StatusChanged event is always fired when Interlink establishes a connection to a controller.
As a result, if you handle the StatusChanged event throughout the lifetime of your application, you should always have the current state as long as your event handler saves the state each time.
It has always (since at least 3.0) worked this way, so I assume that there is no change in 4.6.
