S4 to PC connection
Hi,
Iam trying to connect a S4 robot with RAP option installed to a PC but in one way or the other one I am missing somethings. I have also a pc with TOPHAT installed and the connection is working fine. Now I want to connect an other pc to make my own application but nothing is working. Can someone give me some advise
thanx

What model of controller and software rev are you using?
What communications channel are you trying to communicate with, e.g. serial or LAN?
Have you configured RAP on the controller? Please describe config settings?
Do you have Interlink installed on the PC? Have you configured an alias for the robot?

Hi
The easy way to make pc applications that communicate with the Robot is to use WebWare SDK that consist of a bundle of ActiveX controls.
I'm not very familiar to TopHat but having more that one PC connected/communication to the Robot will get you into trouble because the Robot normally doesn't like multiple connections.Per Svensson

To RussD
The Following items are done
Interlink not configured I am trying an old version of robcomm with the s4modem.
I am using a serial link.
The robot was already communicating with a pc over this link. The only problem was that this pc is used with Tophat. I don't have any information about this very nice looking package, So I want to programm an application by myself.
The problem is actualy the connection between mine laptop (not the TOPHAT PC) and the controller. The controller is a S4 controller RW 2.1 with RAP installed

Hi
RobComm is kind of a old version of WebWare SDK(which use Interlink).
When you are using RobComm there is a configuration tool called RobComm config.
Are you able to ping the robot from your PC???Per Svensson

I am anle to ping the robot in the original system but not on the laptop I am using. I found a modem like driver but even that is not working.
