Smart Component Line Sensor

I would like to use a line sensor to give and input to the VC.

I created a Smart Component and added a Line sensor component.
I add a digital output for the Smart Component which will be cross connected with a virtual controllers input via station signals.
I make an I/O connection from the line sensor to the Smart components output.
When a part crosses the line sensor, I dont get the output coming on from the smart component.
Should i be using more child components to get the result I require, and should I use a binding?

No you don't need any more child component or binding, it's enough to connect the "SensorOut" signal from the sensor to the output of the SmartComponent. But to get the "SensorOut" signal, the sensor must be active and the simulation must be running.Best regards,
