Importing Large Size Geometry

Hi All,
I am about to make a simulation. In this simulation the robot will do some work on an object. So I need to import the geometry of the object to the station. The size of the geometry is quite big, 30Mb.

At first I tried to import it using its original format i.e. *.igs. It took very long to import the geometry. When the process is finished, I can't find the object eventhough the object is listed in the Layout tree. The grid that usually appear on the bottom of the display also disappear. After I deleted the object from the Layout tree, I can see the grid again with the size of 200mx200m, FYI, part length is only 1.6m.

 

The second time I tried to change the format using CATIA to *.stp. This time I can import the object eventhough it still took a long time. However the object is not as it should be. Some part of the object is only visible from one of its side, as you can see on the images I attached.

Has anyone experienced it? Do you have any suggestion?
