RAPID editor fail to launch- Please Help

Hi,

I've just installed RS, I downloaded it from the site and it's in trial version.
I've installed RobotWare and RobotStudio

I'm trying to launch a project that I did 3 years ago. Sadly I don't have access to the program or the license of the lab that I did it in, so I'm hoping the Trial version to be enough.

The installation goes without errors, I load/unpack my files from a Pack&Go zip file
and it also loads with no errors. But when I try to open the RAPID editor it says:

"failed to launch editor for module: "........"  "

"Check program started: All tasks in system "......"  "
"Checked "......" 0 syntax errors, 0 semantic errors"

I've created new system from the temples, I create a new program Module and try to open it and it's the same type error.

I have close to none understanding of how RS works, I knew only as much as I needed to run my simulation create/edit my program on RAPID and that was 3 years ago.

I'm running it on a laptop with Win 7 32bit.

If someone has any idea what I'm doing wrong, pleas help. I really need this to run so I can finally graduate.

This is the thing I'm trying to work on

  • Did you use "Unpack&Work" when you loaded the Pack&Go zip file?

  • Yes i believe so

Click File -> "Open" -> find the folder, switch to see pack&go.zip files -> select the file and open. Then the Unpack&Work wizard comes up.

Select the "what to unpack" path and "where to unpack" path
then the mediapool path (C:Program FilesABB Industrial ITRobotics ITMediapool)

    RobotWare 5.14.03.01_3071 (only option)

and the Automatically restore back up is checked. And that is it.

I've tired Uninstall / Install restarting everything ... no change.

  • I tested your Pack & Go file and I can launch the rapid editor and look at your code.
I donA't know why its not working with your PC, but try to disable all anti virus programs and firewalls and see if that helps.
