Virtual Controller Will Not Start

RS Ver5.14.2  I had a system built from a recent real robot system backup and it was working until a week ago, now when opening it it just hangs with the controller state at "starting" and eventually times out and station apears on screen with no controller running.  I have tried the following:

Opened an old system with an ABB default controller, opens OK

Repaired the application, does not start.

Uninstalled then reinstalled, does not start.

Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, does not start.

Made a new system from the most recent back up, does not start.

Tried the go online to robot got following errorwebwiz/4424/RS-Error.JPG

Error 'details' here webwiz/4424/error_text.zip

As isaid the system was running but stopped after I copied some updated RAPID code from a more recent back up to the offline code and created a missing Welddata entry.

Any ideas anyone?

Dave

  • Try upgrading to RobotStudio 5.15 (http://www.abb.com/roboticssoftware). You can install and use 5.14.0x and 5.15 side-by-side, they use the same activation.

I am not entirely convinced that upgrading will solve your issue, since it sounds as if the virtual controller system is corrupt.

    Other things to try:
If you have a controller backup, you can I-start the controller and see if that helps. Beware that all your changes will be lost.

If you don't have a backup, and you want to recover your changes of the RAPID you need to do a little bit of work: Browse to the folder <SYSTEM>/INTERNAL/RAPID/PRG1 and you will find a bunch of cryptically named files. These files contain the RAPID modules.

  • Thanks Henrik,

think I'll try a new system build from the latest backup of our real robot system.

I had also periodically tried 5.14.3 but it had some odd things happening when opening systems from 5.14.2 so I rolled back.  Will give 5.15 a go too.

  • Are there any plans for an ABB 5.15 RS User meeting tour as was done by Anders Spaak, Magnus Gustafsson and Bertil Thorvaldsson last year at ABB Melbourne?

  • Tried both new back today and also a system created some months ago, both are giving the null exception error as described above, will try 5.15.

  • No joy with 5.15, different error text though.
