Flexpendant Screen Red

Hi

My customer recently moved their robot 30 feet down the line.

When the robot powered back up after having been off for 3 weeks, the screen has a very strong reddish tint to it. It's so red that the ABB menu button in the top corner is very hard to see.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks.

  • So, last night the FlexPendant died altogether. Screen is completely dead. By the way, this is a new system, installed last year, new robot, new FlexPendant, etc.

The customer has a complete spare system in a different area of the plant. Can I just swap out the FlexPendants? Is there any information stored on the FlexPendant? We have an application running on it that was built in Screenmaker... Will I have any communication issues between the FlexPendant and the IRC5?

    Thanks.
  • Hi,

You can replace the FlexPendant. Just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. There is no information stored on the FlexPendant itself. Everything (firmware, UI, ScreenMaker applications) is loaded from the controller.

It is recommended to power down the controller before starting the replacement. When the replacement is done, just turn on the power again.

Please get in touch with your local ABB Robotics service representative regarding possible warranty, see http://www.abb.com/contacts.

  • Hi Henrik,

My Flexpendant also dies. Initially the screen goes red as wbjilsma. But then the screen completely dead. I ask our local ABB Robotic representatives. The said the touch screen and LCD is gone. The cost is USD3600 just to replace the LCD and touch screen. Is this reasonable price? For us is extremely high.

    Thanks
