Smart components and rapid inputs

Hello to all, could you please explain me how to use robot inputs with smart component (moving an object when output set in Rapid). I have tried cross connection between output created in DN board and input created in virtual board. But when you choose some input doing smart component design you can only type name of the input/output, you can't choose already created I/O in virtual or physical IRC 5 boards. So how do you connect your I/O used in Rapid with smart component. Thanks a lot.

Check the Smart Component tutorials on http://www.abb.com/roboticssoftware (click How to use it -> Free Tutorials).

wow, thanks for great answer, I did watch those really confusing tutorials, all logic regarding smart components is really fuzzy, you couldn't spend 2 minutes to give me information, or it will rather be that you don't know, same as most of other people, how to do it. thanks again for great suggestion.

Hi,
First you need to define your I/O-signals in the Smart Component. Then should you connect these signals to the signals you have defined in your Virtual Controller (output from your Smart Component > input in controller). These cross connections are made in "Station Logic", which you will find in the Simulation tab. The Connections made in "Station Logic" will be saved with the station.Best regards,

Thanks a lot Andreas.

btw in tutorials there isn't even slightest hint how to do it, all tutorial work is done on smart component platform.

In the tutorial "Smart Component - Setup Simulation" is this displayed (2 minutes into the video).Best regards,
