5.15.00.01 not responding too much

Anyone else getting 'non responding' moments with 5.15.00.01

I have noiticed that this seems to start after being in the controller tab. then continues in all tabs. each click of the mouse gives non responsive moments for about 30 seconds. restarting studio helps for a while  but soon comes back.

  • What PC are you using?
There is an issue with the Lenovo W520 that has the 'Optimus' feature for automatically switching between the built-in (low-end) GPU and the dedicated (high-end) graphics card. It seems to select the wrong GPU for RS. The optimus feature can be switched off in the BIOS. Please try and see if it helps.

  • Yes I have experienced this also, Henriks solution worked for me - until I am back in the office and try to use my external monitors - they do not work unless the "Optimus" mode is turned back on - so I can only use robot studio without irritation when undocked.

Is there a more "all around" fix or some other settngs we can set to aovid having to change BIOS settings? Is this a driver issue or RobotStudio issue?

  • For me it was the opposite; when Optimus enabled the built-in Intel chip, I had problems to connect to external projectors.

I suppose you have installed the latest available driver already?

We have not seen this problem on any other PC than the W520, so I doubt it is related to RobotStudio. It seems that Optimus fails to identify which applications that should use the external graphics card. This is probably configurable but I had little success with getting it right. Disabling the optimus feature was easier.

It seems that other users of W520 have experienced similar problem, try googling the internet for "W520" and "optimus". Perhaps the solution to your problem is out there.
