[OPC Server] Creating alias

Hi,

I´ve a doubt with the creation of an alias for a IRB4600 robot. I connect the PC to the IRC5 service port, execute the ABB IRC5 OPC Configuration, go to Add New Alias and Scan. The window shows the controller data but the Device Status icon is the signal for "Unaccessable Alias". ABB IRC5 OPC Server help sais that PC Interface RobotWare option is missing, but this document sais "For local connection over the service channel, PC Interface is not required." So, what is the meanning of the Unaccessable Alias in this context?

    Hello,

    I think that in that document it is written that you can use the serviceport to use robotstudio without option pc-interface.

    you need pc interface to use robotstudio on the lan port.

    For the opc i dont know for sure if you need the option, but i think you need it because for anything you want to communicate with a pc to the robot you need pc interface..
