RS 3.2 to 5.07 Compatible Stations?
Hi,
I have recently developed a robot cell in version 3.2 robot studio, however this cell is to use an IRC 5 Controller will it be possible to import the station and restore the robot from backup? Or will I have to start from the beginning with the station geometry?

Hello Rusell,
RobotStudio 5 can import RobotStudio 3.2 stations, just select File > Open and change "Files of type" to "RobotStudio 2.x/3.x stations".
It works quite well considering the architectures are very different, however not everything is guaranteed to be imported correctly. Please post again if you have any problems.

Hi Johannes,
I had tried the open 3.2 station feature. The station came into robotstudio OK. I was wondering what to do to move the robot data into an IRC5 controller? Is there an easy method that will save me re-creating programme and position data?
Thanks, Russ

Well, I can think of two ways:
1) Save the program and/or modules from the S4 controller and import them into the IRC5 controller (using Load Program/Module in either RS or RSO).
2) If you've successfully imported the data (targets & paths) into RS, just synchronize it to the controller.

Hi ,
The 3.2 station i have has three robots init, 2 x 2400 -16 and 1 x irb 1400, . can i use the 3.2 models or do i create new new robots and transfer all the tools ,paths etc

Hi Ian,
If you used standard robot models, they will be automatically replaced by the corresponding 5.x models when you import the station.

Will the tools and the corresponding geometry be attached to the robots? It seemed to work when I tried but the VC would not start. This has now been diagnosed as a hardware problem. I am curious to hear if anyone else has had success with this feature.RUSSELLgee

the 3.2 station imports , all the images are there, including robots. How do i activate a controller to those robot images. ?
If i creat a new robot control system it creates a new robot. Do i have to do this and then over-lay it on the old robot image position?

Ian:
Right-click the robot in the object browser and select "Connect to Controller".
Russell:
Attachment should be imported correctly in most cases. Any failures will be printed in the log window.
