Are all Robots alike [MOVED]
Are all the ABB robots pretty much alike? I understand some are capable of different payloads and others may not have the same number of axis, but I was wondering if for instance a robot that is typically used for welding would be suited to the task of a CNC machine for instance.

Yes and no.
Yes almost all 6-axis Industrial Robots are similar in regards to them being versatile and as such can be multi-purpose. Usually it is the dressing and tooling of the Industrial Robot that determine what it will be good at.
But no, all Industrial Robots would not be recommended for all solutions. This is why there is such a large diversity in the ABB Robotics offering. I would definately recommend different models for assembly, than for material handling, than for painting, etc. Then there is a lot of overlap if one isn't interested in the best model for each task but rather good-enough for a lot of tasks.
