Detect low voltage batteries
Or do I have to make a warm restart to make a warning message appear on the teachpendant?
So is it possible that I now don't see a warning about low battery voltage, but that I will see it if I perform a warm restart?
This question concerns S4, S4C, S4C+ and IRC5.
Thanks.

It's impossible to do with the robot turned on.
To get accurate measuring values you need full load at the battery, so the battery is only measured when the robot is turned off.
Because of this, you will only see this message when you restart the robot.

So, you mean powered off, powered on, I suppose?
In that case, if you want to check the condtion of the controller backup batteries, you always take a risk that they are insufficient loaded, and the memory is gone (in case of f.i. M94A)?

Hi
Move robot to Sync position and execute service rutine Bat_Shutdown, this will disable battery until next start where the counters has to be updated.

If you are talking about the SMB battery, yes you will lose revolution counters if your battery has insufficient load.
Of course you can put the robot in sync position before turning off, wich will make your life easy.
If you are talking about the memory backup (<M99) then the controller have two battery's. If one is gone, you will see the message on startup.
If you haven't checked the battery in a long run, you can have problem with a power failure in the middle of the production.

I have pc's connected to the controllers, and monitor the messages for the low battery warning and alarm - then I can notify my users before it is too late.
However, ABB should come up with a solution with rechargeable batteries instead of this battery replace nonsense...
