5.61.02 memory usage

Me and my collegue have noticed high memory useage since upgrading to 5.61.02.  We had a 230mb .sat file which we saved as a library which ended up being 447mb, then when we load the library RS is using 2.5 to 3GB of memory!  Is this a side effect of the switch to ACIS R25?

Ok my colleague has gone back to 5.61.01.01, he imported the 230mb .sat CAD drawing, saved it as a library and the library is only 85mb, why when we do the same in 5.61.02 is the library 447mb??

Anyone any ideas? Should we be ditching 5.61.02?
  • I have made a station in 5.61.02. it uses 2.5 gb ram.

I created a pack&go to a colleague, that has 5.61.01.01. it only uses 750 mb ram.

Well it's good to know it's not a problem with our PC's and that RS is the culprit.  Now we just need a fix unless ABB are expecting all users to upgrade their PCs?
  • Hi,

I cannot reproduce this behavior. Any chance you could send me the .sat file and/or library files?

    Regards,
    Johannes

    Hi Johannes,

Are you an ABB employee? I can send you you .sat (not sure how though as it's 224mb) but it is confidential so I can only send it to you once I know you work for ABB?

    Regards

    Neil.
  • I can assure you that Johannes is an ABB employee since long. Anyway, the formal way (which is also the best way) to report problems to ABB is to get in touch with your local ABB Robotics Service representative. He (or she) will report your issue to our support team that will investigate the problem and provide a fix if needed. Unless you already know whom to contact you can check at http://www.abb.com/contacts and look up your Robotics Service rep. For UK it seems to be dean.phipps@gb.abb.com. Drop him an e-mail, explain your issue and send him the data. ABB will treat your data with integrity and confidentiality. Going through your local organization will ensure that your case is properly tracked and taken care of.
