Connection with "online" not steady (?)

Hi,

After testing some code in RobotStudio I'm now at a point where I want to test it with a IRB140 but having problems going to online mode.

When I click on File > Online > One Click Connect I keep getting a message that it couldn't find a  controller on the service port. The IP of the controller is 192.168.125.1 (if I'm correct) and I've set a static IP address to 192.168.125.10.  Sometimes (after restarting and clicking one-connect a couple of times). I can start working in online modus, but after a couple of minutes (sometimes an hour), the connection seems to be lost.  At any time I'm able to ping 192.168.125.1 so I assume this is not related to a network/cabling problem.

Am I maybe doing something wrong?

You'll want to avoid using 192.168.125.X through 192.168.130.X for your set LAN port. ABB has claimed these IP ranges for other things -- like the one you've used 192.168.125.1 for the service port. Try setting your LAN port to an IP in any other range and see if that helps.
  • The service port is just for what it say's and you don't need to set a fixed ip on your computer you will be given one. If you want to setup the robot one a factory network you should use the ethernet aimed for that but you need the PC interface option (but from previous conversation you have that). You should find this ethernet port to the right of the connectors that the cabling goes to the robot. Then you need to setup your factory network of your controller, and that is done by doing a x-start where you end up in a gui where you can define the network settings for your controller.

Kind of simple explanation so let me know if you need a more detailed one.

  • Hi PerSvensson,

Thanks for you reply. I got that working and the connection has been stable since we're using the LAN port of the controller. The service port seems to be not working that well. Maybe the contacts need to be cleaned a little bit.
