Connecting Multiple sensors to IRC5 compact controller

How to connect multiple analog/digital sensors to IRC5 controller? The XS7 port is utilized by the Banner vision system that was bought along with the robot. What are the hardware and software provided/required to connect multiple sensors directly to the controller? Or is it better to connect the sensors to the computer externally, and then connect it with the robot?

  • We are connecting them to an external I/O board which is then connected via DeviceNet to the IRC5 controller. This of course requires a DeviceNet board to be installed in one of the PCI slots.
