Smart Components Rotator
in RobotStudio
Hi, I have created a spot welding tip dresser on a swing arm as a smart component, (in order to allow me to control it as per the standard code we are using in JLR). I have a rotator, that rotates a tip cutter, (because we have to see the cutter rotating in order to run the program correctly), and all works ok until I reload the station after shutting robot studio down. I have saved the simulation state and set the scenarios up with the object selected in the rotator properties, but every time I re start RS and load the station, the object field is blank and I have to reselect the cutter object. Is this normal? or is there an issue? Hope you can help.

Hi,No that is not normal. If the station is saved with the cutter object selected, it should be selected the next time you open the same station. What you can try is to add the cutter object to the smart component (drag and drop the cutter to the SC) and see if that helps.Regards,AndersBest regards,

Hi Anders,
Thanks for the reply. I have tried this and still no luck. Still need to load a saved state of the Smart component, or edit the rotator properties again.

Hello Pat,
I suppose the next step is to get in touch with your local ABB Robotics representative that can forward your issue to our tech support.
Kind regards,
