Joint usage of smart components and the virtual controller ?

Hi, I am new with using RS, and I am experiencing difficulties regarding the joint usage of smart components and the virtual controller (hence the robot). How can I synchronize the above, so that for example my robot recognizes the output signal of my plane sensor and starts moving towards the object on the in feeder. Is it done with action instructions, from within rapid code or...? Thanks for any help.

  • The clue is to have a SC that has an output signal that is set by the sensor. Then you define a input signal in the virtual controller after that you connect them using station signals (found in the simulation tab). In rapid you wait for the di and after that you do your motion. RS comes with a couple of demo stations located in C:\Program Files (x86)\ABB Industrial IT\Robotics IT\RobotStudio 6.01\Samples\Stations\ have a look at the solar simulation, quite complex but have this. The demo stations are p&g stations so use unpack & work found under file\share
