How simulate Path recovery with safety signals

Hi,
I would like to simulate Path recovery with occuring errors. If I understood correctly, an error handling routine should be started in this case, but these errors, are they set by program or controller? How to simulate an occuring error? I have read that safety signals can not be simulated in robot studio, but how can i simulate an safety signal stopping path?
Would be the error handling routine also triggered by safety signals?
