Additional axis connection to robot controller
Dear All,
We are trying to connect an additional axis to our robot controller IRC5 M2004 (a linear motor on the robot end-effector with its drive, Note: the motor drive is working in the current mode i.e. the input voltage is proportional to the motor force). We need to control the applied voltage sent to the motor drive and hence control the motor force. However, this part is not so clear for us on how to connect the wires to the controller part, which ports we need to connect and which codes to be used. Could help on this part?!
Thanks in advance

Is the control voltage to the drive a 0-10 V signal?
If so you can use a DSQC 651 combi I/O module which has an analogue out put channel.

Dear Graemepaulin,
Thanks so much for your reply.
Yes, the control voltage to the drive is 0-10 V.
Do you know how much dose it cost (roughly)?!

By the way, Do you have any other suggestions to avoid installing a new hardware?!

As a spare part the DSQC 651 (3HAC025784-001) is approximately US$ 1,900.
Some drives allow basic control by setting digital inputs (if you have a digital I/O module on the controller now).
Or if the drive has fieldbus communications you could communicate with it via this.
